About

Lost Words

Meet Kristie

I wasn’t always a ‘writer.

My writing journey started by accident and not until my late 20’s. I was deemed ‘not good at’ language, spelling or writing by most of my teachers throughout schooling.

This quiet, consistent messaging inadvertently became my personal mantra and something I began to believe. I was put into additional reading support programs, never really understanding why I was there. This affected my confidence in everything I did. With dyslexic tendencies running through my family, I look back and realise I possessed mild tendencies myself, of which I learnt to navigate in my own way, not having any formal diagnosis.

With no understanding that I was processing language differently, I began reading by shape and relying on my photographic memory. This got me through. It also meant that I developed strengths in recalling lengthy presentations and speeches, coupling story with sound, learning music and lyrics through marrying sound and meaning together and taking on and committing information to memory – all to avoid writing.

Work with me

Looking back now, the beliefs I had adopted around writing lead me to naturally balance this out with developing my relational and verbal communication skills. Eventually I went into roles that involved a lot of face-to-face contact – Community Services, Customer Service, Recruitment, Sales and Marketing, Events Management, Music Industry, Radio Presenting and Programming, Sound Production and Office Management.

All leading me to now, and the initial offer to join a writing team nearly 10 years ago. I embraced the challenge nervously; with no belief or intention it would lead me to realising the depths of my passion for language.

Now, here we are, assisting people from all walks of life with some of the most important written content of their personal and professional lives – helping them to carve a path to their dream careers, first jobs, business growth or building their own confidence in harnessing language in a meaningful and impactful way.

Language – both written and spoken word are at the centre of realising goals and conveying our unique personal, business or professional stories.

Pay it Forward

Inspired by a past client who recently passed away, I would like to continue to support those in our community who may just need a leg up in life. This client would regularly purchase resume and cover letter packages for those around him that were unlucky in employment, low on belief in themselves or had found themselves suddenly without work.

Holding a deep belief that a well written resume or cover letter can be life changing, I would like to provide a gateway for those in our community that may not be able to access my services financially; to be able to receive the support they need in this process.

The goal will be to provide resume and cover letter support to one person each month. With consideration for privacy, this will not be a public process. At this stage the service offering will be dependent on donations received and applications. Focus will be on those escaping DV situations, those showing initiative and drive to follow through with the job application process, those who’ve found themselves homeless due to loss of income.

Steps to achieve this:

  1. Donate
You can offer an additional amount to your service fee or donate separately to contribute to the provision of a resume service for someone in the community needing support.
  2. Nominate
Request a nominations form. Email me and I can send you community member nominations form to receive a resume/cover letter writing service.
